Thought BTS was holding a group hiatus and will be focusing only on their solo careers for a while? Well, we all thought wrong.

The first strategy meeting for the 2030 Busan World Expo kicked off on July 7, 2022, where representatives such as Park Jung-wook (Secretary General of the 2030 Busan World Expo bidding committee), Lee Sung-kwon (Deputy Economic Mayor of Busan), and Park Ji-won (HYBE CEO) were present.

There, they discussed their plans for BTS’ appointment as ambassadors for the 2030 Busan World Expo and their wish to hold a global concert for the said event among others. Afterward, the representatives agreed on an ambassador appointment ceremony for the 7-member group later this month, and a global concert to be held in October with the aim to “spread the word” about the 2030 Busan World Expo.

On June 24, 2022, HYBE and the city of Busan signed a memorandum of understanding for the bidding and endorsement of the 2030 Busan World Expo. CEO Park Ji-won and Chairman of the Board of Directors at HYBE Bang Si-hyuk were present at the signing. BTS will be participating in a “large variety of promotional activities” as part of the ambassadorship of the upcoming event.

ARMYs are both proud and ecstatic to hear of the group’s newest activities for the future, following Jungkook’s collaboration with Charlie Puth for “Left & Right” and J-Hope’s second mixtape, “MORE”. They are all the happier for the members hailing from Busan—Jimin and Jungkook.
