Cultural representation and appropriation in mainstream media has long been a topic of discussion in the entertainment industry. And recently, more production houses, film executives, and even game developers have been taking note and presenting characters that respectfully reflect the worldās various ethnicities.
Case in point, the simulation game The Sims 4 used Filipino words and phrases in an item from their shopping inventory. In this post from Twitter user Tasha, gamers can now purchase the āMasarap Ang Spoon and Forkā display utensils for their household.

Since this image was posted last June 24, it has garnered around 2,000 retweets and over 11,000 likes on the social media platform. Many of these online users were also quick to note that in some versions of The Sims, players can cook Pinoy dishes like pork adobo and lumpia.
This is definitely how our eating culture should be represented. And hereās to hoping they might even adopt our slang words and music to the gameās expansion packs! š
